Ron Zook And Urban Meyer Have Kissed And Made Up

August 25, 2009

kissmakeupI had a dream.  A dream that come this December at the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony both Florida’s Tim Tebow and Illinois’ Arrelious Benn were in attendance along with their head coaches Urban Meyer and Ron Zook.  A dream that included Tim Tebow winning another Heisman and stepping up to the podium to give a speech.

A dream that during that speech both Meyer and Zook would spill out onto the stage behind Tebow, choking each other and throwing haymakers while screaming something about killing each others families.  It was an entertaining dream, and one that died this morning with the news that both Zook and Meyer have patched things up following their recent war of words.

Apparently, any insults — intentional or not — have been forgiven.

Florida coach Urban Meyer and Illinois coach Ron Zook spoke on the phone Saturday afternoon and made peace, according to an Illinois spokesperson.

Meyer apologized for criticizing the locker-room culture when he took over the program, saying freshmen were treated like “non-people.” While he didn’t mention Zook specifically, it sounded like a jab at his predecessor at Florida.

After a coach-to-coach heart-to-heart, it seems all is forgiven.

Oh no, not all is forgiven.  For I am a blogger scorned.
