Blog Ten Gameday: Iowa Does It Again, Now 9-0

Able to overcome 5 interceptions in a single quarter....
The Hawkeyes just can’t make it easy can they?
Today’s game against Indiana at home was supposed to be the first time Iowa had an easy win since they beat up on Iowa State earlier this year, and instead they caused Hawkeye fans across the nation to age about 25 years. When it was all said and done, though, the Hawkeyes emerged victorious once again to improve to 9-0 on the season and keep their National Title hopes alive.
Iowa 42 Indiana 24 Final
So I thought at halftime that the Hawkeyes would come back from their 21-7 deficit against the Hoosiers, but then Ricky Stanzi came out and got his Stanzi on, throwing four interceptions in the third quarter. Fortunately for them, thanks to some help from the officials, the Hoosiers were only able to manage three points thanks to those four turnovers.
Then the fourth quarter started and Stanzi got his Stanzi on some more, throwing for two touchdowns on Iowa’s first two plays of the quarter. One to Marvin McNutt for 93 yards, and another to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos for 66 yards. Just like that, Iowa was right back in the game and had a 28-24 lead.
After that they piled on two more touchdowns, including one by Brandon Wegher in the final minutes to get the miracle cover on the 17.5 point spread.
As for Indiana, last week they blew a 28-3 lead, and this week they blew a 21-7 lead. That can’t feel very good.
Wisconsin 37 Purdue 0 Final
Ohio State 45 New Mexico State 0 Final
Both of these games were over early, so be completely honest, I didn’t pay much attention to either of them. I think the scores of both games tell you all you really need to know.
